"I'm not lost, direction supplied by the GB/FDS"
"WTBTS - we stop to pet lions"
so my husband (who was never a jw) saw a christian bumper sticker today and asked me if the witnesses have any.
i said no (not that i know of anyway) so here are a few he came up with.. 'honk if you're a zombie'.
'my other car is noah's ark'.

zed's thread on powerful albums got me listening to darren hayes after ages and i decided i would like to dedicate this song to the borg.

step into the light.
From what I've learned in the past few months, and not being a JW myself, here is my contribution...
Two Pink Floyd tracks from DSOTM
1. Time
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
2. Eclipse
The lunatic is on the grass.
The lunatic is on the grass.
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs.
Got to keep the loonies on the path.
The lunatic is in the hall.
The lunatics are in my hall.
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more.
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
The lunatic is in my head.
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'til I'm sane.
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear.
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
1) i wonder why (or how) the wts can claim copyright over the food it dispenses, given that it says the food is spirit directed and from jehovah?
surely the copyright should reside with jehovah himself?
can you copyright god's word(s)?.

2) Why does the WTS needs lawyers if everything they say or do is sanctioned by Jehovah and must therefore, and logically, be correct...
Just a couple of points I recently made to my want-to-be-JW wife, which I hope got her thinking :-)

i read in a forum in spanish that there is a strong rumor spreading in the corridors of the wt.
has anyone heard anything about this??
the change that is emerging is this: the great crowd has not yet appeared, and it is a group that comes out of the great tribulation.
Didn't someone postulate that the WT could be checking reactions to potential New Light, or "Pre-NuLite(TM)", with rumours and postings to sites like this? Pehaps it could be a thought to embrace such crackpot ideas on here first so they get adopted, and THEN pick them to bits when they see the NuLite of day?
life?
to a position of responsibility in the congregation or.
are they rich or famous?.
Info on Prof Bruner found on Wiki
Bruner became a Christian under the teaching of Henrietta Mears at the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood. It was there that he met his wife Kathy and discerned his call to be a professor.
He taught at the Union Theological Seminary in Manila, Philippines from 1964-1975. From 1975-1997, Dr. Bruner taught at Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington. Since then he has been at the Fuller Theological Seminary, in Pasadena, California working on commentary on the Gospel of John. Dr. Bruner has a passion for connecting and working with scholarship on biblical narrative. He has traveled around the country speaking at hundreds of Presbyterian Churches.
Bruner then taught New Testament theology at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington for 22 years beginning in 1975 and retiring in 1997. He held the position of George & Lyda Wasson Professor of Religion. [ 2 ] He has spoken and taught at churches all over the United States. [ 3 ]
I'm not up on all this, but i doubt the Presbetarian Church and the WTBTS are close affiliates given what i've understood how the WT views other churches? I told my want-to-be-JW wife to bring this up today... But she won't.
just wondering if your name describes what you saw, how you were treated when you were "in" or now "out", maybe your personality, ect.... i'm label licker and the why i picked this name was because of all the licking up one side of elders and down the other to either be an elder or ministerial servant.
one time i was standing right in front of this brother who wasn't made an ms yet and he totally ignored me and talked right over my head speaking really loud trying to catch the co's attention.. got sick of watching the poor elderly sitting all alone or standing against the wall like a wall flower with noone to talk to and yet all these label lickers would take turns picking up the elders elderly parents and take them shopping and do their groceries at least four times a week while out in service, yet, there was noone there to take a meal to a sister who just got out of the hospital with a heart attack.
when i had shown up at her apartment with a meal she asked if i could wash her private and change her bandages.
Because no matter what line of reasoning I put forward to show that The Thruth is not The Truth, the answers I get back are always the same, namely;
"Because it says so in the Bible" (even though it's a bunch of stories written x-hand and years after the events. Imagine a newspaper only know reporting the Titanic sinking?)
"Only Jehovah knows" (Armageddon topic, although edlers seem to be able to judge/condemn people already)
"I know it must be true" (I think this is called 'faith', I tend to think of Blind Faith when it comes to the WT)
"Imperfect humans" (to cover up for mistakes that have had a huge impact on 000's of lives, or flip-flop doctrines aka 'New light')
"You can't prove it didn't happen" (Great Flood. The idea that the whole world was flooded to 5km depth is beyond me, way too many consequences for that to have happened)
Also, I liked the "TTATT" abbreviation when I worked it out, and TSRTS is a bit similar.
Finally, and with ref to insearchoftruth's comment on the newbie thread, I'm a Led Zeppelin fan
hi all, i'm new but have read an awful lot here plus jwfacts and jwsurvey over the past months, also the coc book.. i'm not a jw (and never will be) but have a wife who is a 'want-to-be' jw.
this is quite a challenge for me as i already had an idea on some of the points jws stick to, but now with everything i have learned about the high-control methods, the changing doctrines, and the cover-ups, it's a real concern.... anyway, i was putting forward the notion that jw's don't help anyone in disaster zones, except jws, or by giving out wt tracts or magazines (which would be really useful to homeless, hungry and cold families).
she didn't know, and doubted it, so i told her to ask an elder if the wt provides assistance at all anywhere.. she reported back that the elder said the wt does contribute to the red cross.
Wow, thanks for all the responses!
I'm of the same view as everyone else, i.e. it would be; against blood practices, and against WT articles/doctrine, and why would they give money outside anyway (when they might need it based on other views here about being short of cash, etc)?
I'm going to get the question asked again, but more directly, and looking for a qualified yes/no...

She didn't know, and doubted it, so I told her to ask an elder if the WT provides assistance at all anywhere.
She reported back that the elder said the WT DOES contribute to the Red Cross. I was a bit surprised, so did a few searches and can't find anything to back that up. So maybe she misunderstood (that a JW can donate on a personal level, if that, rather than the WT itself or a KH?) but she was clear that he told her the WT donates to the Red Cross and thus provides assistance...
So, can anyone clarify for me the relationship that the WTBTS has with the Red Cross?
Thanks!
